- Utter's Corners, Dec. 13 - Courtland Lackner was born in the town of Fulton, Sept. 22, 1847, and died after a four day illness of pneumonia at his home in Milton Junction, Dec. 2. When a young man he married Miss Sarah Bear. Two children were born to them, John of Southwest Lima and Fred, who died several years ago. In later years he was united in marriage with Miss Ursula Kelley, who died two years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 4, conducted by Rev. Powers of Milton Junction and the remains were laid to rest in Edgerton cemetery. His oldtime friends, William and Henry Cox, Douglas Hopkins and Charles Thomas of Ft. Atkinson, were pallbearers. He leaves to mourn his death one son, John, two sisters, Lillie Lackner of New York and Carrie Lackner of Southwest Lima.

- Error: His name has been spelled both Cortland and Courtland. I'm unsure which is correct. Also, his grave is actually in Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton.

- Mrs. Courtland Lackner died suddenly at her home in Milton Junction after less than an hour's illness. Deceased was a daughter of David Kelley, formerly of Milton, and was born in New York sixty-five years ago, coming to Rock county while a child. A husband and one sister, Mrs. John Casson of Ford River, Mich., survive. The funeral was held from the Methodist church in Milton Junction Wednesday afternoon, Rev. North officiating. Interment wa made in the Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton.
