Sessler, Gerald F.

  • Gerald (Jerry) F. Sessler, 32, of 91 Rhine St., Elkhart Lake, died at Veterans Administration Hospital, Madison, early today where he had been a patient since April 22. He had been ill about a year. He was born Jan. 19, 1942 at Plymouth the son of Mrs. Ruth Abers Sessler and the late Fred Sessler. He attended Plymouth grade schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960-62. Mr. Sessler enrolled in the Green Bay School of Barbering and graduated in May, 1963. On Nov. 9, 1963 he married Doris Meyer at Plymouth. After marriage the couple lived in Appleton for five years where he was employed as a barber. In February of 1968 they moved to Elkhart Lake where he owned and operated Jerry's Barber Shop prior to becoming ill in 1973. He was also employed at Gilson Brothers at Plymouth in 1972-73. Mr. Sessler was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Elkhart Lake, where he served as secretary and head usher. He was a charter member of the Elkhart Lake Lions Club and served as club secretary and treasurer. He was the first honorary member of the club. Survivors are his widow; two sons, Keith and Dewayne, both at home; his mother, Mrs. Fred Sessler of Plymouth; a sister, Mrs. Gary Wettstein of Sheboygan Falls, and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Abers of Plymouth. His father died last May 27. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church, Plymouth. The Rev. Robert Wudy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wittkopp Funeral Home, Plymouth, after 3 p.m. Sunday, until 11 a.m. Monday, and at the church from noon until the time of services. Military rites will be conducted at graveside by the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243 of Plymouth.
